OVERLAP POOL LINERS: This type of swimming pool liner is the most basic and cost friendly pool liner. The liner simply goes up the pool and over the pool hanging down on the outside. This is very easy to spot. Most overlap liners still have the vinyl draping down the outside. Overlap liners come in 20 gauge and 25 gauge vinyl. They may be plain or in many patterns. This style liner uses plastic strips or coping to attach the pool liner to the pool wall. Be sure to replace the coping strips if they show signs of being cracked or broken. They typically start to become brittle after about 5yrs of service. An overlap pool liner can be used in any swimming pool as an economical substitute for a beaded or unibead style pool liner. You may need to purchase enough coping strips for the size of your pool if making this switch. Standard overlap pool liners both 48" and 52" swimming pools. Call if you are unsure of your needs.
BEADED POOL LINERS: Although the material for construction is the same, beaded swimming pool liners differ from others only by method of attachment. The beaded pool liner simply goes up the pool wall then snaps into a track or groove at the top of the wall. The pool liner is held in place by using the welt or bead that runs along the edge of the liner. The track or groove that the beaded liner snaps into is referred to as the bead receiver or bead channel. Beaded pool liners also are available in both 20 gauge and 25 gauge vinyl. The advantage to the beaded liner is that you generally do not have to disassemble the top of the pool to change the liner. Beaded pool liners work very well in situations where a large deck is being built around the pool or if the pool is sunk into the earth. Unlike the overlap liner it is important to know the wall height of your swimming pool. Beaded pool liner come in different wall heights 48", 52" and 54". You can easily change from an overlap liner in your pool to the beaded style pool liner by purchasing the bead track or bead receiver along with the beaded pool liner.
UNIBEAD POOL LINERS: Unibead pool liners are different from the other style liners. They can be used in nearly all above ground swimming pools. The unibead liner can be used to replace an overlap pool liner without having to purchase any additional items. This pool liner simply clips onto the top of the wall requiring no bead receiver. This gives you the look of the nicer liners without the added expense. Unibead liners also make it easy to get the perfectly straight tile line. Easy install make this pool liner a favorite. Unibead liners are generally heavy gauge material and decorative. The unibead pool liner also comes in 48", 52", and 54" pool wall heights. When using this type liner it is important to know the wall height of the swimming pool. Unibead pool liners can also be used in a swimming pool with a bead track or bead receiver. If using this liner like a beaded you remove the flap at the top of the liner. This is done by tearing along the dotted line at the top of the pool liner. This makes this liner very versatile and easy to use.
NOTE: If using this liner to replace an overlap pool liner in a swimming pool and you wish to hang it as a beaded liner, be sure you have the required amount of bead receiver on hand.
EXPANDABLE POOL LINERS: Expandable pool liners are used in swimming pools with a hopper or deep end. This is simply a 72" tall pool liner. They are made that way to accommodate the extra material required for the deep middle or deep end swimming area. Expandable pool liners will allow for an extra 2-3 feet of water depth. These liners are common for both round and oval shape above swimming pools. Expandable liners can be used on any round pool or oval pools with no buttress straps that run across the middle. Pools with straps cannot be dug out in the middle without modifying the pool. Unless you are a professional pool installer, expect wrinkles or folds in the pool liner after installation.
